In the heart of the tropical Caribbean island of Haiti, AlCol’s love affair with turntables started in 2015. The same year, he successfully broke through the Haitian musical industry with Konyen Nòmal, a dance music powerhouse driven by a strong Haitian rhythm and commanding Haitian Creole vocals. The production caught and surfed the wave of public interest as if it was second nature.
An electrifying, modern, and refreshing face in the industry, AlCol would quickly prove that his skillset was finding and pushing the boundaries of sound. In 2016, he produced, recorded, and released Map Byen Pase, his first foray in moombahkonpa, a music genre of his own creation. A fruit of his passion for moombahton and konpa, the track featured Steves J. Bryan. The catchy bridge and thrilling chorus cemented AlCol in the minds of thousands; from Haiti to Nigeria— where it garnered the attention of MC Galaxy and Neza for a remix —to the United States.
More recently, AlCol is broadening his scope of work; his latest offering, “Lakay,” is a collaboration produced by Haitian musician, singer, and producer Jeff Pierre. The breezy, layered, drum-forward summer anthem is the perfect carryover in AlCol’s catalogue, and a taste of what’s still to come from.
A multi-hyphenate DJ, AlCol primarily spins dance music with a flair for rhythms that pull from the African continent, Haiti, and moombahton.
